Adding and lengthening notes in open meter flows

Hi,

I’m running constantly into a “problem” or workflow situation that may have a solution.
When I have a flow written in open meter (gregorian transcription, mostly), as below:

And I realise that a note is missing, or that I must lengthen a note, I can’t find a way to do it without all consecutive notes moving to the right.

The only workaround I see is to delete all the bars and rewrite them in the correct position. I was wondering if there is any option to modify those notes without having to rewrite the bars.

I understand that Dorico has a particular way of working with rythm and note position; but I was hoping there could be a way around it; at least for this kind of works.

Thanks

Put the caret where you want the extra note, then type Shift-B 1q Enter, or whatever it is that you want. The number is the number of beats, and then you type w for whole/semibreve, h for half/minim, q for quarter/crotchet, e for eighth/quaver etc.

Thanks! You actually meant “Shift + B” and 1q, right?

Whoops! Yes, precisely.
