Adding new track

Hello,

When I add a new tract, any type, how do I get it to be directly below the current track? It always shows up at the end of the track list. Then I have to drag the new tract up to where I’m working.
I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, so my apologies if there’s a simple way to fix this that I missed.
Thanks!

Select the track you want the new trck to appear underneath.
Right click the selected track, add new track.

Yes that’s what I do, but the new track always ends up at the bottom.

You can drag the new added track wherever you want it. Just click on it and drag up or down as required. Very simple. :hugs:

Yes, that’s what I do, but I shouldn’t have to.
The question remains how can I add a track that automatically places directly below the track I created it from?
Thanks for everyone’s reply

I think the question is: why does it work on my Cubase but not on yours if we both perform the same actions? Are you using the latest maintenance release of Cubase 11??

I’m on version 12 now. But had the same issue with version 11
(I couldn’t figure out a way to update my profile)

Hi,

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

Or could you try to rename/delete Cubase preferences folder, to get the factory settings? In the best case, if you have older Cubase installed (older Cubase preferences present), do so for all Cubase versions preferences folders.

Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% Steinberg/Cubase X_64

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll give it a try.

Thanks! I set the preferences back to default and now the added track goes directly below! Next step is to figure out which preference it is.
Thanks again
