Adding new un-pitched percussion instrument with specific notehead and percussion playing technique

Hello. I’m trying to add an auxiliary hi-hat to the Drum Set (full) collection that has an “ornate notehead” type with two percussion playing techniques (bell and buzz roll). I have a midi controller that will trigger this in Superior drummer on midi note numbers “2” and “3.” This way when I import midi the notation will consist of General Midi with the addition of the auxiliary hi-hat. Here’s how I’m attempting to do this, but isn’t working. Let me know what I’m doing incorrectly.

Add new instrument (aux hi-hat) to drum set (full).

  1. Library → Instruments → Edit Percussion Kit…
  2. Add new instrument. I chose “Marching Hi-hat” since this was the only “other” kind of hi-hat available.
  3. Click on Edit Percussion Playing Techniques → Added “Buzz roll” and “Bell” with “ornate notepads” (see pic 1). Also buzz role contains “Z on stem”

  1. Exit out of percussion kit and “edit instruments.”

Edit Percussion map so that when midi notes “2” and “3” are imported, they appear as “ornate X noteheads” and “Z on stem” for the “buzz roll technique

  1. Library → percussion maps

  2. Make a copy of General Midi

  3. Scroll to midi note 2, “Edit drum kit note”

    1. Name: aux hat
    2. Instrument: Marching Hi-hat (1 line)
    3. Techniques: bell
  4. Click apply

  5. Scroll to midi note 3, “edit drum kit note”

    1. Name: aux hat (roll)
    2. Instrument: Marching Hi-hat (1-line)
    3. Techniques: Buzz roll
  6. Click apply (see pic 2)

Now I have a percussion map with midi notes 2 and 3 that map to instrument “Marching Hi-hat” that is either a “Bell” playback technique or a “Buzz roll” playback technique depending on the midi note imported.

I have a midi file with just Midi note 2 and 3 (D-1 and D#1) that I import and expect to see this:

But instead, I see this:

Can you please upload your project.

Here’s my project file, the midi file containing notes 2 and 3

Notes-2-and-3.dorico (2.2 MB)
Notes-2-and-3.mid (62 Bytes)

Thanks for uploading the project.

Your General MIDI copy Percussion Map isn’t listed in this project. Can you double-check that it opens in your project after closing Dorico? If it does, can you export it and attach here?

Also, what is your controller?

here’s the project again with the Percussion map “general midi copy” saved. I’ve
Notes-2-and-3.dorico (2.2 MB)

I’m trying to upload the .doricolib file but it’s greyed out. Trying to drag and drop it here gives this error:

The controller I use is an Akai MPD218
