Hello. I’m trying to add an auxiliary hi-hat to the Drum Set (full) collection that has an “ornate notehead” type with two percussion playing techniques (bell and buzz roll). I have a midi controller that will trigger this in Superior drummer on midi note numbers “2” and “3.” This way when I import midi the notation will consist of General Midi with the addition of the auxiliary hi-hat. Here’s how I’m attempting to do this, but isn’t working. Let me know what I’m doing incorrectly.
Add new instrument (aux hi-hat) to drum set (full).
- Library → Instruments → Edit Percussion Kit…
- Add new instrument. I chose “Marching Hi-hat” since this was the only “other” kind of hi-hat available.
- Click on Edit Percussion Playing Techniques → Added “Buzz roll” and “Bell” with “ornate notepads” (see pic 1). Also buzz role contains “Z on stem”
- Exit out of percussion kit and “edit instruments.”
Edit Percussion map so that when midi notes “2” and “3” are imported, they appear as “ornate X noteheads” and “Z on stem” for the “buzz roll technique
-
Library → percussion maps
-
Make a copy of General Midi
-
Scroll to midi note 2, “Edit drum kit note”
- Name: aux hat
- Instrument: Marching Hi-hat (1 line)
- Techniques: bell
-
Click apply
-
Scroll to midi note 3, “edit drum kit note”
- Name: aux hat (roll)
- Instrument: Marching Hi-hat (1-line)
- Techniques: Buzz roll
-
Click apply (see pic 2)
Now I have a percussion map with midi notes 2 and 3 that map to instrument “Marching Hi-hat” that is either a “Bell” playback technique or a “Buzz roll” playback technique depending on the midi note imported.
I have a midi file with just Midi note 2 and 3 (D-1 and D#1) that I import and expect to see this:
But instead, I see this:
