Do you know how to add performance directions for all instruments, like in italics “poco a poco” "f’ or “mp”? In Finale (which I’ve been using till it announced its closure), I could add it as an additional direction, or text which would apply to all.
I tried adding it as a text, but it means I have to copy and paste it for every single instrument.
Tried adding it under “tempo” (shift + t) - but the tempo marking would also accompanying the words. (i.e molto expressivo q=72)
You can use the Dynamics popover (Shift+D), and use the prefix/suffix feature in the properties panel. The dynamic itself can be hidden, if you just want to display e.g. molto espressivo.
The Text Alignment feature can also be useful, as you can see:
Or, if you want the text to appear on every part, but not on every staff in the score (like a tempo), you may use a System-attached Text (Shift+Alt+X)
Dorico has a command to Duplicate to the staff above and below. It’s essential, I’d say, to set a key shortcut for those. Then you can enter something once, and ping, ping, ping, ping – it’s copied to more staves.
You might also consider creating a Paragraph Style called something like “Expressions”, using an Italic style. You can save that as a default for every document, and then assign a shortcut to that, too. I use Shift E for Expression!
One can also set the caret and then use SHIFT with the up/down arrows to extend the caret over all the staves before adding a dynamic which will then appear on each staff selected.
