I am new to Dorico from Finale. I have inherited a hymnbook to maintain, but the former compiler did not leave the song number and section title information on each song file. How do I add these in Dorico Pro 5? (See picture of what SHOULD be there - Song #4 and section title PSALMS)
What you can do is add text frames to display these. This is done via the Edit Page Template dialog.
In the text frames, I would enter a token for each of them (something sensible from the list e.g. {@flowworknumber@}) and then enter the information via Project Info. This way, you just need to change the information for each flow there and they will update automatically.
Be sure to edit the Page Template, not individual music pages. Alternatively, adjust the Flow Heading template, if you want to show flow titles between flows in the middle of a page.
So where is Page Template? I don’t see it in the Edit drop-down menu?
Ok, so I am getting it for the most part now - thanks so far!! Unfortunately the hymnal I am updating was given to me with each song in a separate file. Thus I am needing to add song # and section title to each song individually. Usually this is working out fine, but sometimes I don’t have the option to add another text box. Why does the boxed “T” not show by the Engraving tools? See pic below:
So I should have looked a little harder before making that last post - I found it. Show Left Zone wasn’t checked.
Wouldn’t adding song title and section titles best be done via a page template and Flow Info token rather than adding text boxes to each hymn?
Perhaps that’s what you are already doing and I misunderstand.
I agree with @Derrek. You can import the same Page Templates into each project and it will be done automatically.
IS @rschrock leaving the hymn files in separate files or combining them into the final product? If the latter, the page template(s) need only exist in the composite file.
And of course the Library Manager can copy preferences, etc. from one file to another.
I don’t believe this was mentioned but it is a good idea (sooner rather than later).
Got this competed - thanks for all your help!
