Adding track in the right place

Is there a way to add a track to a project in a specific place such as just below a selected track? No matter what I do, the track always gets added to the bottom of the project. Then, I have to scroll all the way down and drag the track all the way back up to where I want it.

How can I change this?

With default presets the new track is always added under the selected and not on bottom. Try to load the default preferences on start-up (hold down Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-Alt) and choose the default preferences option. see if it works.

I’d like to know what specific setting I can change to make this happen without changing all my other settings.

I understand but it is like that by default, I tried finding one in preferences but can’t find any related…
What’s your version? Working as it should with the latest, but I 've seen others complaining about it with 11

I have the latest version of Cubase 12 Pro.

@hitmeister please answer this question so people can help you :

By what method exactly do you add the track?

I select a track, and then I right click on it to get the “Add track” menu.

I can do that , no problem, and so can @almaelectronix.

You Maybe you have prefs corruption, so rulle that out before going on.

Use Cubase Safe Mode to do that.

I reset my preferences, and it’s now working correctly.
