Adjust tempo without affecting MIDI?

As a 20-year Cubase user, I’m embarassed to say I don’t know the answer to this.

Is it possible to change the tempo of the project WITHOUT affecting the placement of the MIDI notes? I would assume NOT since the MIDI notes probably depend on the project tempo exclusively. Unless they’re marked by POSITION and not the tempo track??

Anyone ever have to do this?

Totally possible, using the Track Timebase feature.

Your tracks are in Musical Timebase, switch it to Linear Timebase, adjust the tempo and observe that the midi notes do not move with the tempo changes. (btw, don’t conflate the term Musical Mode with Musical Timebase. Different thing.)
