Sometimes the gliss text on a gliss line would be clearer if I could adjust it along both dimensions a little nudge, but I’ve looked through the Properties panel and can’t find a control for it, and I can’t seem to do it by dragging in Engrave mode. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks, that may be a good option for some situations, but depending on the angle and where the text falls on the staff, I would still need to nudge it for optimum clarity, at least until they implement erase background for text like this.
Yes, you nudge it with the start/end gap property. You have to set it to start or end because center can’t be moved.

That moves the whole line for me. I just need to move the text and have the line remain.
Then you are doing something wrong. Note that the line is attached to noteheads,

I’m definitely doing something wrong. This is what I get in Properties when I click on the gliss line.
I’m not using a glissando line but a regular line.
