We would love to use Nuendo 14, but we’re encountering a problem: there is a noticeable offset between the moment the countdown bars meet (which serves as the cue for the voice talent) and the actual start of the recording in Nuendo. In my estimation, this offset is between 7 and 10 frames. As a result, the beginning of the recording is often cut off.
Additionally, when I record over an existing take, I can still hear 2 to 3 frames of the underlying audio clip, even though the in-point is exactly the same.
I’ve attached a slow-motion video to illustrate what I mean. In the video, the bars touch 6 frames before the take is supposed to begin. Furthermore, the clip is only created 2 frames after the take starts. This is likely the reason why the previous recording is still audible at the beginning.
How can I solve this problem?
Steinberg support hasn’t responded to my inquiry for over 3 months, so I’m posting it here…
Windows 11, Nvidia RTX A2000, Xeon W2255, RME UFX II
I see 3 frames offset between TV and PC screen.
On TV is 01:25:32:20 while on PC screen is 01:25:32:17
It’s usual that different screens have different delays.
Did you try correct it by Studio setup / Video / Video player / Offset ?
Hi Martin,
thanks for your reply. But I do not mean the latency of the TV, the computer screen or the videocard. I mean that Nuendo does start the recording too late. It should start the recording the moment the two lines touch in the middle of the screen - and not a couple of frames after they “faded” into themselves.
In Nuendo 11 it is as it should be.
We usually use ProRes files. But the problem consists with mp4, too.
Could you please check, when exactly the recoding begins with your setup? When the bars touch, or after that?
Yes right when the two bars touch
We have covered ADR tutorial in details here
I am right now not in the studio but I ran a quick check for you and everything runs fine
