Advice On New Computer

Gaming would require more from the graphics card than Dorico does at present since processing the vector images in a game in real time requires faster image throughput.

Yeah but I think Alexander is asking which games. :sunglasses:

If so, “paint me a picture” was a little round-about way to ask.
I hope he gets the answer he wants.

Is the i7 or i9 so there are more processors? One i5-10400 desktop I’m looking at has 6 processors, so would even more pay off some day?

Check out CPU Benchmark. The top i5 is ranked 243rd. If staying with Intel go with an i9 if budget allows:

As a very rough guide, I think the Multi-core benchmarks here will give an impression of expected performance in Dorico, as it takes CPU speed and number of cores into account:

Dorico will take advantage of more cores, though only for certain operations. As a general rule, the more players you have, the more you will benefit from more cores. However, if you only write piano music then the extra cores won’t give you any appreciable boost.
