After upgrading to Dorico 6.2, I've got no sound being played

Upgraded to Dorico 6.2. Opened a project I’ve been working on, and a dialog appeared offering to move me to the default playback template, so I said yes. Now, no sound. Tried to re-apply, still nothing.

Opened a second project, said no thanks to the default playback template, and it also has no sound.

Can’t work out what’s happening. I can see !! Halion Sonic !! under Routing in the Track Inspector, but no sound. When I click the E in a circle, nothing happens.. it used to let me select an instrument.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

In the Chose Playback Template dialogue you can go to the bottom and specifically select a template. This might help. Wait until the instruments have loaded afterwards.

That means Dorico cannot find Halion Sonic.

Probably best to upload your Diagnostics.

The diagnostic report is too big to attach (7.7MB)

Can be found here: Dropbox

Interestingly, I can open Halion Sonic and play sounds using it, so it’s installed correctly…

Please reset the audio engine cache.
Therefore, open the Dorico Preferences dialog, click the VST Plug-ins tab and scroll all the way down. There is a button for clearing the audio engine data cache. Click that one, then apply and close the dialog, and then restart Dorico.
If HALion Sonic still does not turn up, please create a new diagnostics report and send directly to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de
My inbox can cope with up to 10 MB.

Hello

I’m also experiencing the same problem. I did as advised, but the apply button was greyed out. Sound is working on my mac but not in Dorico prior to the 6.2 upgrade, opening a project and accepting the default playback template.

thanks

Resetting the cache worked for me. Thanks @Ulf.

The Apply button also did not enable for me, but when I restarted, Dorico ran through all the audio plugins and then they came back for me.

thanks, but no luck, even after restarting my mac and dorico.

Hi @NotaBene , then forget about the Apply button, just push the Reset Cache button, close the dialog and restart Dorico. If still no sound, please create a diagnostic report and attach to a reply here. Thanks
