After using SpectraLayers, nuendo becomes sluggish and slow

Using SpectraLayers extension in Nuendo, after “Merging and Exporting Selected Content”, it becomes sluggish and slow. Disabling and re-enabling the track can solve the problem. But there must be a problem with this, Nuendo? SpectraLayers?

Did you need to install this?

Sad you got no feedback.

I’ve found SL pretty much impossible to use as an extension in Nuendo (v12/13) unless I make processing permanent right after using it. I think they’re aware of it, but as usual no feedback, because that’s the Steinberg way.

Yep, I face this sluggishness the moment I use SL and this has existed for a couple of versions now. Even Auto-Align leads to slowdowns and sluggishness at times, so ARA could be at fault here.

I just adapted my workflow for dialogue edit. I now, clean up a scene, fill gaps, render the scene and then apply SL (Noisy Speech module). Most of the times, drag out the Speech and Noise layers to new tracks and then mute the SL event. Muted SL/ARA event seems to not cause any problems yet.

The session does end up looking very messy, but it’s the only way I can continue using SL instead of RX.
