Thanks for the note. If you could be so kind as to point me in the direction of a tutorial for cut-away scores, I would appreciate it.

Version history has it all, but Anthony Hughes has described this thoroughly in the Dorico YouTube channel when Dorico 6 came out!

A 10-minute workaround for something that’s STILL not included in Dorico 6. Well, I won’t be upgrading from 5 until this can be done as easily as it could in Sibelius (20 years ago). Devs, please fix this!

Hi @nrkulus,
I feel you for that. Many people, like me, have been waiting for Aleatoric boxes to be native in Dorico for a long time. But as pointed out by D. Spreadbury in another post:

> [@Will Dorico ever allow cut out scores in future udpates?](https://forums.steinberg.net/t/will-dorico-ever-allow-cut-out-scores-in-future-udpates/958706/11):

> Frame notation and cutaway scores are independent and orthogonal. It is true that both types of notation will often be used in the same score, but from the point of view of designing and implementing them, they are completely separate functional areas with little overlap. Both will require significant effort to implement to the standard we always aim to attain. So you should not expect both to appear in the same release.

Every notation software has room for improvement in various areas of expertise. E.g. last time I checked, Sibelius (a 25+ ish yrs old programm) could not achieve cutaway scores without using a plug in, and you still have to do some math to fake open time signature scores (something that Dorico could quite early in development stage, just by telling it you want open time signatures) and sort note spacing and layout. Also, there’s lots of people waiting for improvements in ancient music, and also more traditional notation. We are not also considering the ones that are eager to see something on the playback area, wich are quite a lot of people.

So, yeah. It’s sad to use workarounds for what we want the most. But be patient: when cutaway scores arrived, they became something you could do with a single clik, high customization and unexpected use cases. I’m sure that with aleatory boxes and frame notation will be the same 😃, and maybe, given the post I attached, it will arrive soon…

Cheers! 😃

A quibble, but… it’s not a 10-minute workaround. It’s a 10-minute video giving a full explanation.

I have several workarounds in Dorico that, when set up once, take 15 seconds to implement, but a video explaining them in depth could easily be 5 minutes.
