Align beam-end of stems? (uniform offset from staff?)

Hello! I’ve seen many posts about stem lengths, beam angles, etc., but I don’t think this has been addressed: is there an “automatic” way (a Properties panel setting, a Library setting, etc.) to align the beam-end of stems to the same horizontal line, perhaps to a pre-set point offset from the staff? (regardless of the pitch of a note?) In this screenshot, I’ve achieved what I want in Dorico with manual edits of each individual stem and beam, with dashed red lines added for emphasis:

I’d like to achieve this without all the manual edits. (It would be great to be able to specify such settings on a per-staff, or per-instrument basis.)

I was able to do this quickly and easily in Finale, by creating a custom Staff Style and specifying appropriate values for “use vertical offset for beam end of stems (offset from staff).” Here’s an example from Finale:

Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful! Thanks.

Dorico doesn’t have a way to enforce a fixed length for stems, which is what would be needed to produce this kind of result. We’ll have to think about how we might be able to enable something like this in future.

Hello Daniel - thank you for the response; good to know I at least exhausted all possible solutions as I learn my way around Dorico.

I’ve been spending a great deal of time exploring the minute, nitty-gritty features of Dorico, as those same types of features are what I made great use of in Finale for almost 25 years.

I’m not sure how many folks would find this feature useful, but I, for one, would definitely use it. Thanks for considering it for a future release.

I would for drums and percussion.

@jesele That’s primarily how I use it too. Glad I’m not alone!
