Is there a rule that in keyboard music, fermatas should always vertically align?

But note that technically in Dorico the hold duration is different for different value notes.

And Dorico handles the placing correctly and automatically.
What additional information would the organ player get by this notation?
This is the crucial question, in this and so much else.
In an instrumental part, it is often essential for a player with a long note to know exactly where the fermata is within it (particularly if the music continues); but for one keyboard player, at the end of a piece, the first example is absolutely correct.
