All my Vienna plugins don't appear anymore in Dorico 5

Hello! I work on Dorico 5 (latest version), and use regularly Vienna Ensemble Pro 7. I don’t know what happened, suddenly, all my Vienna plugins don’t show up anymore… Can’t find the solution. I have a MacBook Pro M4. Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum.

First, make sure they are actually there (can other audio, plugin-capable apps see them?). If they are installed correctly, go to Dorico Preferences → VST Plugins and make sure they aren’t in the blocked list. If they’re blocked, it usually means there’s no VST3 version available, regardless, try clicking Clear Audio Engine Cache and restart Dorico.

If they’re still missing, Help → Create Diagnostic Report and post it here.

Thank you for the quick answer!

I use Cubase as well, and I have zero problem with the Vienna plugins. It’s weird..
Thank you again

are you sure that Cubase can still see them? Are you talking specifically about VEPro or also Synchron libraries. I know that sometimes after an update that VEP or Synchron libraries may temporarily not work for one reason or another but if everything’s definitely still OK in Cubase then there must be another explanation. Are you saying that if you go into the VST list in Play mode, you can no longer see any VSL plug-ins? Or simply that they’re not loading in projects?

Yes, I can still see VEPro or Synchron libraries in Cubase, but not in Dorico. Here are two screenshots, one from Cubase and one from Dorico:

and Dorico:

according to the diagnostics, all VSL plugins have loaded correctly. Normally if something doesn’t seem to be appearing in the drop-down list, it’s simply because it’s off end of the list – there is sometimes an problem in being able to scroll down to the bottom on long lists. However that doesn’t seem to be the case with you from the screenshot. Does it help at all if you go to Preferences–> VST plug-ins and then “Clear audio engine cache” to force a rescan of the vst’s?

This would be my assumption because the last entry is “u-he”, next would be VSL.

@Hugo_Gonzalez-Pioli
Scroll bars don’t automatically appear here for some reason but if you scroll or select one and arrow down, you should reach V.

oh my god, I just had to scroll down… I’m so embarrassed, sorry for wasting your time.
It drove me really crazy!!
Thank you so much anyway

to be honest a) it’s a rather common problem but b) your list doesn’t seem to go down to the bottom of the form as in most cases I’ve seen so I’m a bit surprised it cut out where it did. But I’m glad it’s all sorted. I know the team are aware of this one – perhaps there will be improvements in the next Dorico version!
