All text gone from notepad once size reaches ~50k ? (Nuendo, 13, 14, 15)

Using Nunedo 13 on an Intel Mac running MacOS Ventura; this setup has worked well for the past 2 years. There were 4 months of project notes in the notepad. I added a few more paragraphs after finishing last night only to find upon opening the project today that all the text, i,e, the entire history of the project, is gone. The cursor is at the top of the window and not positioned at the end after where the last entry would be if say the text was somehow hidden.

I usedr a .bak file to get up and running again, so I saved a new copy of the file after typing in my notes from memory. Same thing happened again after opening the new project. Experimenting with how many more test lines could be added to BEFORE EVERYTHING DISAPPEARS indicates that once the notepad text exceeds 50K, then nothin is retained across project close and open.

Made another copy from the good .bak file and this time opened it in Nuendo 15, appended more text, then saved and re-opened. and got the same result. I followed online suggestions like rebuilding the font cache on MacOS followed by reboot, moving aside the steinberg nunedo 13 preferences file by re-naming it etc., but none of these made a difference.

I don’t expect the notepad to reproduce the functionality of a word processor, but I do expect Nuendo/Cubase to be able to read/write a simple (flat) text file and display it properly without imposing any size limits.
