All working fine for a few seconds, crashes

I was working on a project a couple of hours ago with no problems, closed the laptop to put it to sleep as per usual to go do something else and when I came back and woke the laptop to finish the project it crashed almost immediately.
Now, whenever I open ANY project Cubase crashes within around 10 seconds. However, before the crash everything works perfectly.
Not sure if some settings may have been corrupted, so I wiped the “C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase Studio 5_64” folder (after taking a backup). This didn’t fix it so I restored the backup.

Any suggestions?

Don’t put your laptop to sleep!

Treshing of preferences helps very often in these cases.

Did your Cubase run, when you put the computer sleep? Btw: What kind of WIndows do you use? Win XP/Vista/7?
