The tie cannot be selected independently. Both connected notes are selected and deleted along with the tie.

I also tried using the Split tool on the tied notes. The tie is removed and the notes become separated, but an unwanted staccato dot appears above the second note. I cannot find a way to remove this dot, and I do not want this articulation in my score.

A tie is not an articulation though. The underlying note crosses the bar or beat line and therefore is written with a tie.

However this looks like a bug because after using the Split tool the second note has a negative length.

repro

1. create empty project
2. create a midi track and a midi part
3. add a note that crosses a barline: ![image](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/steinberg/original/4X/7/d/e/7dee313e8b0a40f843fc0dc41297dbc43b350389.png)
4. Click on the second note with the Split tool ![image](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/steinberg/original/4X/8/b/4/8b4eb48db95c4f6b2d9f498c542701e129e2d40a.png)

Result:

A note with a negative length

@3052212066 can you (or anyone) confirm?

Yes! i can confirm this:
I got:

 ![image](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/steinberg/original/4X/8/0/5/805be13bdf5da465b8a02d242100b0fc1081d0ac.png)

But as you see the negative lenght is allready there. Strange. I wrote the note in by the pensil in key editor.

And the split tool, and a some of the other tools also, in the score editor only dispaly a +sign, not a scissor or other like in the project window.

Well this topic will just be about the bug mentioned.

I’ll report the negative value, but I would wager they know about it.

👍
Maybe they know, even tho it’s not an issue in Dorico where you simply press U to untie.

Thanks, I can reproduce this and I can see the problem.
