Almost there to finally understand External FX.. but one more thing, a bit more complex

Hello,

So for past few days, I’ve been figuring out about ‘ping’ system on my Cubase 12 Pro with UFX ii and finally succeeded to get right ping calculated for dbx160a compressor.

So that means, my cubase and ufx have no bug or defects.

But my additional question is, I am using ADAT expander for extra analog outputs, cause it has direct outputs for all channels, how do I set SEND and RETURN of this instance?

SEND : adat 3 - 4

for the test, I will use one of my analog mixer

RETURN : analog input 3 - 4

Will this work for my case?

For SEND: I set it as adat but technically, direct outputs of the expander is analog… so… I am a bit confused there, I wonder if ping would work…?

So, even though the SEND is set to ADAT 3-4 and I am using its analog direct outputs, and RETURNing back into analog 3-4, I confirm I could get ping

I would just answer myself, ping worked successfully! (for anyone who was looking for similar answer and using 500adat’s direct outputs for extra analog outputs)

Thanks

remember you have to re ping if you change your buffer size and if you’re using a reverb you need to set it to dry only for ping and then back to 100% wet

Congratulations on you new hybrid system

Oh no… hehe… I might just… stick to the old-school way (dangerous music tutorial method)… but I will also explore my best way of using summing mixer  thanks~!

Hello Norbury! I am finding my catches while testing! haha… I am realizing, a/bing and checking back and forth with ITB mix is really handy but one thing that I could not foresee was, I cannot print CUE mix… haha. for my case, I am using CUE mix for Analog Summing check and there is no way I can print / export CUE mix… hehe… oh well…

@JohnShin if you have anything external patched in you can only render in real time

It’s a reason if I have to work fast and render mixes etc I don’t use my external hardware, and i have a lot of good stuff.
