Alternating between laptop speakers and interface

What I’m trying to do is have the play back come through my laptop speakers when I’m not recording, then changing the volume output to the interface (US-122mkii) when I do record. I know how to switch the output options in the Device setup menu, but the sound doesn’t always come out from where it should. I could be missing a step, or two…

I’ve been able to do this before, alternating between the computer speakers and the headphones in the interface.

To have the sound come out of the laptop speakers, select the built in sound card’s driver (either the Generic ASIO driver or ASIO4ALL) in the Devices Setup…
To have the sound come out of the interface’s connected speakers, select the interface in the Devices Setup…
You can’t select both at the same time for different sound sources. You will have to switch back and forth.
