Always on Top: No caption

Hi,

In Cubase 6,
when I’m setting a VST(i) to “Always on top” there is no caption visible anymore.
How to correct this?

Hello,
I’m not using Windows, and I’m not using “Always on top” function, but… Isn’t this only, when the window isn’t active at the moment? Is there caption, when the window is active?

Hi Martin,

Active or inactive makes no difference.
In Cubase 5.xx everything is fine.

No big deal, but with many Vst(i) on screen its difficult
to select the right one.

In the Window window, are all windows named?

Did you try “factory reset” of Cubase (delete preferences)?

I tried to Trash prefs, with no luck.
Main windows are all named.

Have you restarted your computer? I HAVE seen strange behaviors cured by a reboot before.

I Have this problem for several months, only with Cubase 6.xx.
Have rebooted many times since then.

Hi,

Can someone please confirm:

Windows 7
Cubase 6.xx

Steps:

  • Add audio track
  • Insert VST effect Steinberg compressor (any VST will do)
  • Caption of VST-window will show something like: track xx: Ins. 1 Compressor
  • Set VST window “Always on top” (rightclick near the top on VST window to select)
  • Caption of VST-window now empty

In Cubase 5.xx the caption is always shown

I recall, no showstopper, but with many VST’s open its difficult to select the right one.

I was unable to reproduce the error on my system. The window caption is there.

Hi Delta,

I couldn’t reproduce it either. Is it Windows 7 32 or 64 bit? Is it Cubase 6 32 or 64 bit? Does it happen with every plugin? Have you updated Cubase to 6.0.5?

  • Cubase 32 bit 6.05
    It happens with every Plugin and VST instrument.

Cubase 6.05 32 bit on W7 64bit OS.

Behaviour here is also as axpected, no loss of windowcaption.

I had another strange baviour , not cubase related, but windows coudn’t open in windows.
No matter what setting in config. With every double click another dedicated window popped up.
Anyway, I didn’t updated W7 after installing, once I did that problem was solved.
Are your windows updates configured?
