Hi guys,
Just upgraded to C13 for the MIDI Remote feature from C11.
Now I’m new to implementing this.
I’ve got two questions first.
1/ Are the QC only limited to 8 assignments? I have a Novation LaunchControl XL with 24 knobs, 8 faders and 20 buttons I’d like to be able to assign to QC functions
2/ I have a Motif XS Rack with a basic MIDI CC implementation. I’m wondering if I can use QC and assign them to the deeper parts of the VST functions e.g = NRPN data?
There are 8 Track Quick Controls, 8 Instrument Quick Controls and 8 Focus Quick Controls available in Cubase 13.
Quick Controls are not meant to be to control MIDI CCs. They are meant to be to control directly the parameters in Cubase. The whole point of the NRPN data is, they have high resolution (128 * 128). But your hardware source will send just basic 128 resolution data.
More control change functionality to my Motif rack, which only has mappable CC contollers. I would like to map other knobs on the VSTi, that aren’t strictly MIDI CC
Is it as easy as putting it into “MIDI learn” and move/select a VST knob?
If so,
Can you use the other 8 Instrument Quick Controls and 8 Focus Quick Controls do the same?
You can Learn MIDI Messages (your hardware sends) in the Studio Setup window. Then you can learn the parameter, you want to control.
In theory, yes, you can. But you have to have in mind, the VST Quick Controls are used for the instruments only. The Focus Quick Controls are binded to the plug-in window, which has focus (is visible and is on top). Track Quick Controls are binded to the plug-ins of the selected trac.
