It really should be as simple as this:
- Quit Dorico.
- Run Steinberg Activation Manager (hereafter “SAM”).
- Hold the Shift key down, and click the “refresh” button in the top right corner.
- Wait for the progress spinner at the bottom of the SAM window to disappear. (Now your Dorico 6 license has been updated to include the entitlements for Etude Elements.)
- Run Steinberg Download Assistant (hereafter “SDA”).
- In the left-hand panel, navigate first to Dorico, then to Dorico Pro 6.
- In the list of download choices on the right, you will see Etude Elements. Click the Install button.
- Wait for the progress bar to turn green and show a checkmark in it. (Now the Etude Elements sound content is installed properly.)
If in step 7, the button doesn’t say Install, that suggests the content has already been installed. Run Steinberg Library Manager and check that Etude Elements is listed under the HALion tab.
If it’s not shown there, go to the Downloads folder on your computer, and look inside:
Steinberg/OSX/Etude Elements
In there you should see two files:
SMT_021_Etude_Elements_Presets.vstsound SMT_022_Etude_Elements_Samples.vstsound
Double-click one of them (only one!) to launch SLM and install the sounds. Check in SLM that the content is now correctly appearing.
Now run Dorico 6.1, and start a new project based on the Solo Piano template. If the Auto playback template is applied, Etude Elements should be loaded as the piano sound. Go to Play mode and show the HALion window to make sure. If it’s not loaded, go to Play > Playback Template and apply the Auto playback template.
