For example, if I have a Percussion 3 part that plays both Glockenspiel and Xylophone, it would be nice to check a box so it can say “Percussion 3: Xylophone” (Or “Perc 3: Glock” for later where short names are used) similar to the option to use player names instead of instrument names. I’ve been doing an arrangement where the director specifically asked for this, and while I know there are some workarounds, a checkbox would be simpler.
Just another thing to note: The current workaround is custom staff labels, but this also affects instrument change text. So if I want to write a change from xylophone to Glockenspiel, it’ll say: “Percussion 3: Glockenspiel” at the instrument change, when I only would want it to say “Glockenspiel” there. So a setting to list both in the layout options would prevent this issue
