Hi, I am in the middle of engraving my piano quartet and I want this 8va line to be angled so I can fix the vertical spacing. Every time I right+left click and click “octave lines” - then - “make angled” or “make corner” nothing happens. I attached a screenshot to this topic, and thank you in advance!
Welcome to the Dorico forum @johnwilliambrink .
After checking the manual and doing some experimenting, I think I have worked out the steps that need to be taken.
In Engrave mode, select the octave line and also the note where you want a corner to be added, then right-click and choose Add Corner. If you want the line to be angled, select two adjacent notes and the octave line then right-click and choose Make Angled. As I did, you will probably need to experiment a little to get the feel of how it works. There are probably other nuances which I have not found, but the steps I have described should give you a start. You might find that the vertical distance between notes will affect whether or not a corner is added.
@johnwilliambrink Unfortunately Dorico doesn’t handle this situation very well and you may not be able to get the result you want.
See later in the following thread:
You could use the line tool to construct a non-functioning sloping octave line.
