Another automation thread

I’m using Cubase Artist 7.5 and am experimenting with the various drawing tools at my disposal. My specific question is how (if possible) do I increase the “resolution” of lines that are curve-based (such as sine and parabola). When I use the drawing tool to implement a curve in an automation lane, the line draws nice and smooth but when I release the mouse button to complete the drawing the curve becomes a series of lines that only represent a general curve. Any suggestions or information about this? Thanks

There is a preference for this exact thing.
I think it is called “reduction level” or something like that.
Check the Automation Panel if you can’t find it in the main preferences.

Less reduction equals smoother curves and more of a CPU hit.

I’ve read the operation manual about this “automation panel”, but the manual implies that it’s only available in the full version of Cubase and like I said, I’m using Cubase Artist 7.5.

Maybe try using a higher quantise resolution? - for instance if quantise is set to 1/8 then that will be the resolution of your curve.
