Any way to replace parentheses glyphs

Is there any way to replace the poorly designed parentheses glyphs with something better?

TIA

Undoubtedly.

But I guess someone will ask you for an example what you see, what you dislike, what you want etc.

In Library > Music Symbols, you can edit all kinds of parentheses glyphs:

I know, but none of them seem to pertain to the parentheses around the notes. I’ve gone down the list before and just now again.

And I’ve looked in Engraving Options for control over how they look but I can’t find anything.

I think by default Dorico uses the noteheadParenthesisLeft and noteheadParenthesisRight SMuFL glyphs for parentheses around single notes – but you’re right, it looks like this can’t be changed in the Music Symbols dialog.

In Engraving Options > Bracketed Noteheads > Design, you can specify that single noteheads use drawn curves, the same way that multiple noteheads do, and then you can change certain things about the appearance of those curves.

I don’t prefer the native glyphs either. As @asherber says, it’s easy to switch to drawn curves. Here’s what I use:

You can change these with a doricolib file if you want. Just edit the file so the font matches the desired Font Style, then place the doricolib file in your DefaultLibraryAdditions folder. Here’s Leland for example:

Thanks, everyone. They’re looking a lot better now.

Is there any way to get that left parenthesis to have less of a gap between it and an accidental. I went through all the settings but couldn’t find one that seemed to affect that aspect.

TIA

Just because you don’t like something, does not make it “poorly designed”. I could easily find ten opinions to “prove” your work is poorly engraved, but that would not make it so.

Carry on…

The parentheses are poorly designed and I don’t care if you like my saying so.

Carry on…

But that’s like, just your opinion, man…

And your book cover is amateurish and poorly designed.

See how that works…

I don’t mind you saying that. See how that works?

You sure picked a weird thing to get upset about. That’s not what this forum is about.

It’s also not about tearing down others’ hard work because of a personal preference.

See, you don’t have to be obnoxious. It’s a choice…

It’s not my fault that it’s a poorly designed paragraph glyph but the problem is solved now and I’m happy.

yeah… i’m out. you’re exhausting
