Any Word on Roman Numeral Analysis for Dorico?

but it would be a PITA to keep them lined up perfectly with all the automatically positioned normal chord names. Please…these hack arounds are just that…hack arounds. I can also manually edit all the graphics if a PDF program too..none of which sounds pleasant.

Haha
I have to import to Photoshop for a few things. This means that I have to have a perfectly edited file before using PS. It really is a PITA. Dorico does outperform Finale in most areas. Roman Numeral Analysis is not one of them. Not complaining…just saying.

I’d recommend using a vector drawing app to edit PDFs, rather than a bitmap photo editor.

E.g. Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity, etc.

Using a vector app will preserve ‘objects’ as separate moveable things, and avoid the blur and jagged edges of a bitmapped image.

Great…what is the learning curve on that?

Affinity Studio is now completely free and while I haven’t used it, I have many (non-professional/non-designer) friends who say it’s very intuitive and easy to learn. Graphic & Vector Design Software | Creative Freedom | Affinity

FWIW, the last version of Affinity Publisher didn’t support all the OpenType functions required for MusAnalysis, specifically CALT. The newest version might, I don’t know.

I’m curious to try it. They were acquired by Canva and AFAIK the software has received a bit of a significant overhaul and rebrand (now everything in a single package called Studio). Not sure if that means the OT support you mention has been added, but now that it’s completely free it’s worth a shot.

Oh, actually I was wrong, sorry. It supported CALT. What it didn’t support was COLR, but it looks like that was added in version 2.5. So apparently Affinity has pretty robust OT support now.

Any update on the next version having tools for educators, including roman numeral analysis?

Features of new versions almost never are announced beforehand. You’ll have to wait for the release notes

Thanks
