Ok - this post MIDI Remote API Controller issue - DisplayValue doesn't follow automation DOES indicate that my concerns of not getting the controller displays to follow the DAW host changes - seems to be a non issue if I can get my hands on this scripting API spec - no more posts till I do more research.
