Ultimately I’m trying to automate the track as a layered kick but it needs to sync with other modulated synths. But since kicks can’t be sustained and modulated via amplitude I’m trying to do a sample start retrigger via LFO.
Samples in synths/samplers are triggered by MIDI notes/events. LFO on their own don’t generate MIDI notes but continuous control signals. so you would need to have a plugin that has LFOs, but hen can generate a MIDI notes event e.g. when the LFO is at its highest amplitude. I don’t know whether something like that exists…
Using the step sequencer like Johnny wrote or just drawing in the MIDI events by hand on the kick track seem easier to me…
Yea I’ve been considering that. Unfortunately it’s sound design with no tempo/grid, so the LFO of the pattern is basically impossible to manually draw via MIDI.
Been considering any possible way to do this. Thanks!
Here is the old school folks speaking: Have a look at your LFO frequency, adjust the song tempo accordingly.
Or is the LFO frequency changing? Then maybe create a tempo map.
The LFO pattern I’m using is not tempo mapped. It’s all over the place intentionally as FX. I wanted to layer in a kick with it, but apparently it’s not possible to modulate a sample start/trigger.
