Apply "shorten repeated notes" and "gaps between repeated notes" settings globally

In Dorico, I see that the following options are available under Playback Options Overrides within each Expression Map:

  • Shorten note if followed by abutting note of same pitch

  • Additionally enforce gap between repeated notes of the same pitch

These work well for improving playback of repeated notes. However, they currently have to be enabled per expression map (or per instrument), and I’m hoping to apply them globally instead.

I checked Playback Options > Timing > Note Durations, and I do see:

  • Enforce gap between repeated notes of the same pitch — but this seems to apply only to keyboard instruments, not across all instruments.

What’s confusing is that I’ve seen screenshots/videos where these options appear under a “Default Notes” section, suggesting they may have been available globally at some point.

My question:
Is there currently any way to apply these settings globally to all instruments as a default playback behavior?

Or is the only option still to enable them individually for each expression map? If not, is there a recommended workaround to avoid having to configure this repeatedly?

I am the user who requested the option “Shorten note if followed by abutting note of same pitch”. The notes are only abutting in playback if their played durations are equal to their written durations. To see this option in the Playback Options dialog, go to Timing > Note Durations and set the percentage for Default notes to 100:

Thanks johnkprice, it undoubtedly helps to know that checkbox only appears if you select 100%. That explains why I didn’t see it in my user interface.

I’ve found that “Additionally enforce gap between repeated notes of the same pitch” is more useful to me, so it’d be lovely if that’s located somewhere hidden too.
