Trying to create a custom chord symbol set based on “New Real Book Chord Symbols” sheet from John Barron’s excellent recent video. Got most of it the way I want, but with a few chord symbols, after making the edit, the Apply To All Roots button is greyed out. For example, the C9(b5) is applied to all roots, but the C7(b5) next to it cannot be applied to all roots. I wonder how to solve this problem.
Hi @DonO1, after deleting or resetting all overrides in Library>Chord Symbol Kerning Pairs…
and Library>Chord Symbols…
I made the All Roots available for your project and those specific chords as c7b5.
You created custom chord symbols for all alterations, which probably collided with the creation of a single override (whose category was included in the previous override).
Thank you so much, Christian_R. Success! I ended up having to go back to John Barron’s original file and started from square one following your advice. So, to avoid collisions between single root overrides and all roots, I made sure to click “Apply To All Roots” after each chord symbol edit before saving the dialog. That seemed to work.
