Apply to all roots

Why is apply to all roots greyed out ? I want to use “mi” when using minor on all chords. I have in chosen in the engrave lib but the chords keep on placing the plain “m”. I can changing it but it’s one chord at a time.

Can you upload a minimal Dorico project that presents this issue?

Here is one of my templates

D 4:4-4 LS 4.dorico (595.9 KB)

Hi @salc, and thank you for the file.

(I am not a chord symbols expert, but I hope what follows can be helpful nevertheless).

Probably there are some “interference” between the many custom appearances for your min7 chords:

I deleted (edit: I did this, resetting them using the circular arrow icon) all your Xmin7 chord symbols appearance overrides, now the list looks like this:

Then I checked that in Engrave mode the chord quality settings are as desired:

and in the Design section I modified (increased) the Offset for superscript components value (similarly as I see in your screenshot):

Here the result:

And here the Dorico file:
D 4_4-4 LS 4-CORRECTED.dorico (575.4 KB)

You can now try to make further customisation: just open the dialogue from menu Library>Chord Symbols and add for example Cmin7, and you see that Apply to all roots is now clickable, and after clicking on it, the override is renamed into All roots min7 and the root in the preview is grey (you can save it as default clicking on the star):

Thank so much. I went back to the file I sent you and cannot delete the custom chords I created. How do I delete them. When I select them the trash can is greyed out. Even in the file you sent me I cannot delete any of the chords on the list.

Use the circular arrow at the bottom left.

@salc
Sorry, my bad: I didn’t specify (I now edited my post). But @jesele promptly answered you

Did you manage to solve your issue?

Yess apparently the trash can is not used to delete the chords it’s the recycle button. Dorico has some really weird s*%^. Tks for the help.
