Applying Swing to Legato Notes A Mess?

Every time I have a sustained/legato bass line and I wish to add some swing I get a stuttering effect because now some of the note lengths are over lapping and not triggering properly.

I know I can use delete overlapping notes (mono), but it doesn’t seem a logical and easy way to work clicking that button every time you want to experiment/increase the swing, then clicking ‘legato’ when decrease swing.

This seems to be the case when using the quantiser MIDI plugin or the quantise section. Am I doing something wrong?

If I were doing this I’d Select All the Notes and shorten them enough that the Swing settings won’t create overlaps. Then fitz with the Swing to find a setting I liked. When done set them all back to Legato.
