Appreciation Post!

Just want to show some love:

I’ve been using SL12 for a few weeks now, more than just casually, and I have to say I’m able to do things in my workflow that I’ve never been able to do before. The quality of the separation in Unmix Noisy Dialogue is very very good… to the point where I’m able to strip out usable PFX from dialogue and with a little cleanup sound like they were recorded separately. Awesome work devs and Steinberg folks, this program is vastly underrated.
(For work-type reference I’m a supervising sound editor working in Film and TV)

is there a new module?!?

Dustin, agreed…nearly two years on working daily with it and SLP remains incredible…things I’ve never been able to do before

bahahahhah Fair… I guess it’s only respectful to get the name right

Questions; do you run SL “live” in your projects or do you commit to new evens/files as you go, and secondly, what are your computer specs?

Hi @MattiasNYC I’m running a MacBook Pro M1 Max (64GB Ram), macOS 15.6.1.
I don’t know what ‘live’ means in this situation, but non-ARA, I use the AAX plugin in Pro Tools to fly clips into SL, process them in SL as needed, then send back to the plugin and render. Does that answer the things?

Yeah that answers things. I’m so used to reading Nuendo user’s posts on this forum so it didn’t occur to me that you’d be on PT.

In my experience in Nuendo with my current non-mobile setup I can’t run SL in realtime as an ARA plugin. That’s what I was wondering about.

Anyway, thanks!

Yeah I generally don’t mess with ARA in Pro Tools because of how I need to accept and deliver tracks to the mix stage, I don’t want to forget to commit anything before delivery so the easiest way to do that is to render on the spot
