Are the [k] drum mapping entries in Cubase patch scripts ignored?

I’ve thrown together some patch scripts for the Yamaha DGX-670 (will share them with the forum soon). I was under the impression that I could also map out drum kits in these scripts and the info would be imported into the diamond Drum Editor.

Was I wrong about that? Will I have to manually redo this and export the drum maps from inside Cubase in xml format?

Here’s the roughed in (untested) version.

Yamaha DGX670.zip (16.8 KB)

I got about half of the drum kits mapped but since I can’t seem to get Cubase to recognize them from here, is there any advantage to finishing with the drum mapping in the script?

I don’t mind rolling back to old versions of Cubase if that’s how to get the info into the drum editor and then export as xml (that could then be imported into all versions, including the newest).

I took a look in pro Cubase versions 3SX, 5.5, 11, 12, and 14 so far, and can’t seem to figure out how to make use of the drum mapping info in these patch scripts. What am I missing? The Cubase drum map setup option to ‘get drum map from instrument’ is always grayed out.

If there’s a way to get this info imported without manually entering this stuff again in the Drum Editor, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks.

I don’t think there was ever any intention on Steinberg’s side to have data from a patch script be transferred into a Drum Map.

What else would such information in a patch script be for?

It’s the only part of Cubase I can think of that can list the names and key-mapping of drum kit pieces.
