Arp on VSTi insert slot (effects that produce midi)

hi, im not sure i have to be here or in developer section:

i tried a Beta plugin the last months from Cableguys.
its was a sort of AI model-effect that can generate cool basslines.
Its worked really well…

Thing is, the plugin itself worked a bit different.
You had to load it into an insert on a VSTi channel (lets say Retrologue or Nexus)
Then the midi output of the plugin (called Bassliner) showed up in the midi inputs of the same midi channel.

Super handy! No more extra midi channel, just one clean track with that arp onto that channel…

You can save it as preset, export as xml, everything worked.

Are there more arpeggiators/step sequencers like this?

And how did they make this? Can i convert my own arpegiator plugins to an effect that spits out midi? So i only have one channel that i can save/export?

I don´t remember seeing many midi generators that just need themselves. Scaler 2 has some internal sounds. I think some of the appeal of a midi generators are that you can use it with “all” your instruments. I haven´t seen this plugin but from what you describe it just sounds like a plugin that generates different basslines all within 1 gui. so I would assume it also have some different sounds in it?
