Is it possible to replace these instrument labels with layout names for the score layout? As in the screenshot. Continuous view.
I guess it’s not.
You could have instruments appearing on more layouts
You could have players holding more than 1 instrument (Trumpet & Bugle 
), in galley view both are shown and have to be distinguished.
The score layout has one name. Other layouts, such as parts, will have other layout names that might be similar to the Players.
But in Galley View, each staff is one instrument – even when one Player holds more than one instrument. A Layout name wouldn’t make much sense.
Can you explain exactly what names you want on these staves?
In addition to the responses above, please note that the Galley View is not a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) view. It is more of a “convenience” to see all parts in one long scroll. As such it is not an accurate depiction of what your score will look like on a page.

Maybe it should also be added, just in case you didn’t know, that instrument names can be changed.
(Click the little arrow next to the player name in Setup mode to show the instruments they’re holding, and then click the three dots next to the instrument name. There you’ll find a menu that includes “Edit Names”)
My mistake. I was wondering if it’s possible to use the names of the musicians instead of the instrument names? Alternatively, can the font be enlarged so they’re easier to see with low magnification when writing the score?
Yes, See Library->Paragraph Styles
(Not everything you can change there has an effect though. Changes to font and size do , changing color don’t)
It seems Player names are shown by default only if they’re holding multiple instruments.
Can’t find a way to change that.
By default, guide bar numbers are shown every bar, above every staff. Guide instrument labels are shown above each instrument, and follow the view as you scroll. For players holding multiple instruments, the player name is also shown in guide instrument labels.
You could of course change the instrument name, but you might need the original elsewhere, so then you have a problem. (Unless you do that only while entering notes, and change that back afterwards)
Or, give the player an extra dymmy instrument and use the instrument filter to not show that. Bit of overkill probably
Ah, sorry — I hadn’t read the whole thread properly! In Galley View it will only use the player name if the player holds multiple instruments — shown as Player: Instrument.
