I’ve been experiencing strange behavior with the arrow keys in Dorico for several weeks or months. When I try to navigate between notes using the arrow keys, sometimes I can’t move to the following note on a particular staff. Pressing the arrow key doesn’t change the selection—it stays on the same note.
However, if I use the arrow keys to go up to the following staff, I can move right and left among the notes without any issues. This behavior seems inconsistent, depending on where and when I’m trying to navigate. Also, if I close and re-open the project, sometimes I can move where I couldn’t before.
I have confirmed that Scroll Lock is not on, and Pitch Before Duration is not enabled. Initially, I thought that perhaps the notes were in different voices on the same staff, preventing me from moving through them with the arrow keys. However, I’ve verified that all the notes are in the same voice, and I still can’t move right or left.
I’ve searched the forums to see if anyone else has experienced this issue or posted about it, but I couldn’t find anything similar. So, I decided to make a post myself.
I’ve never encountered this issue before, and I’ve been using Dorico since version 2. The video below demonstrates the behavior in action. I’ve also attached the Dorico file for reference.
