Articulation options not showing up in Property Panel

A strange thing is happening…
When I am in Engrave Mode and trying to adjust articulation placement, there is nothing displayed in the Properties Panel anymore. I’ve restarted the program and that doesn’t help. I’ve tried a few different files and the same problem exists. What happened to all of the options I used to have?

The properties Panel show the properties that are common on all selected items. If you have even one note without an articulation on it, those properties will not show.

Yes, I am making sure that only the articulation is selected. Nothing shows up in the Properties panel.

This started happening a couple of days ago and I never had this problem before.

I think you actually need to select the notehead to which the articulation belongs, rather than the articulation itself (I appreciate this is somewhat non-obvious!)

Selecting the note only gives very limited options. There is a whole separate panel of options that should be available when you select just an articulation. As I said earlier, this was an option before and now it’s gone. There was a specific option which affects the placement of the articulation in relation to the slurs…I can’t remember the name of the option. That is what I’m trying to access, but none of it shows up anymore.

When I select a note that has articulations, I can see the Articulations section in the Properties panel when I scroll to the right.

You have to have the “Show” option set to either Local or All in order to see this option.

I do not get that option when I select the note with an articulation.

Are you sure that you have selected only notes that have articulations, and nothing else (no slurs, text, notes without articulations, etc.)?

If the note looks like has an articulation, are you sure it’s not a playing technique? Articulations are only the items that show in the left panel in Write mode:

More properties are available in Engrave mode than Write mode, if that helps?

Yes. I am absolutely sure that ONLY the articulation is selected. It is definitely an articulation and not a playing technique.

As @Lillie_Harris said, you have to select the note, not the articulation.

I am trying to access this in Engrave Mode. All of the options were available a couple of days ago in Engrave Mode when I selected ONLY the articulation. This has never been a problem in the past with this which is why it is so mysterious. I have done tons of work in Dorico and never had this issue. It seems like a glitch has happened in the program.

Please try selecting the note and not the articulation.

Yes, did that too, and that doesn’t work. I used this function all the time in the past and it has disappeared. It’s not something new that I’m trying to do, so this is bizarre!

An articulation (> or . etc) on its own does not have any properties. A note, that has an articulation, does have articulation properties. I think you are mis-remembering.

Are you saying that you don’t see the Articulations section in the property panel at all?

If you’re looking specifically for the “Inside slur endpoint” property, it only appears for the articulations of duration:

Yes, there are no properties displayed for any articulation of any type in the property panel, The property panel is blank (in Engrave Mode).

Again, just to be sure – you’re selecting the note, not the articulation, right?

First, thank you to everyone who has chimed in to help troubleshoot. I figured out what I was looking for, and it was the “tucking index”. That is found by selecting the slur in Engrave Mode. I was changing the tucking index so the articulation was inside of the slur for certain passages. However, now the tucking index does not seem to be doing that anymore, so I am back to square one! Problem solved…new problem arises. Just like life, right? Sigh…

I think I will just have to manually move the articulation inside of the slur in Engrave Mode which is a little bit tedious.
