After importing from a Music XML file I notice that some accents are appearing on the stem side of notes (particularly whole notes). I can go in and manually change the accent to the note head side but is there a way to instruct Dorico to automatically place all accents on the note head side or a way to at least globally set the score so that I can “select all” and set the accents to appear on the note head side?
Hi. Engraving options>Articulations has settings for that. (as usual)
Marc,
I went to Engraving Options and selected Articulations, then Placement of Accent , then Natural Placement. This did not correct the problem on whole notes where there is no stem. I did not see and option for “Notehead Side” only “Natural Placement”. What am I missing?
Thanks.
Marc,
See the screen shot attached. The accent behaved well in Bari. Sax. in measure 3 but is on the wrong side in Tenor Sax. This happens often throughout the piece and I am having to change every one individually. “Natural Placement” is selected for Accents in the Engraving Options. The staccato in the next measure is on the wrong side as well in T. Sax.
After an XML import, it can be helpful to do Select All and then Reset Appearance and Reset Position. This should return everything to Dorico defaults.
You may even find that Changing the Instrument to “Dorico’s own”, can solve some problems.
