Articulations reset after hitting stop!

Hi there, new to Cubase 14 and I’m having an issue where I want, for example, the violins to play Pizzicato rather than their default articulation. I open the MIDI instrument and change the articulation.

Once I stop the playback, it resets to the default articulation. Online help seems to indicate that “Reset on Stop” is the problem, but I’ve checked and unchecked this and it has no effect on the articulation resetting to default.

Any other troubleshoots available?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

This is correct. But once you place the Cursor to another position, the articulation should follow the last used one. Right?

We call thie Chase Events.

Hi Martin, thanks for the response!

No. It resets even if I click a different part or the timeline.

I should maybe add, I’m using the free trial at the moment, so maybe it’s because of that?

Hi,

No, the Trial license doesn’t play any role here.

I cannot reproduce the behaviour here on my side.

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

Or even to delete the whole Cubase preferences folder (when Cubase is not running) to get the factory settings?

Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Cubase X_64

Where the X is the Cubase version (for example 14).

I don’t see any Cubase X folder inside Library/Preferences … ?!

The X is a placeholder and refers to your Cubase version, e.g. Cubase 14 > X = 14.
