Nuendo has had a couple of horrible crashes here and the messages involve error executing different .vst3 plug-ins. Shortly before exiting without notice, I get distorted audio and the performance meter peaks. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
What does different .vst3 mean? Bad plugins?
I think it’s an out of memory issue. I say that because the audio stops and the crash relates to different VST plug-ins, which are usually very solid. Unfortunately, I think Nuendo uses a bit more CPU than Cubase.
Hi,
Do you get a *.ips/dmp file, please? Could you attach it, please?
Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps
Thanks Martin. You are always so helpful.

Hi,
The freeze is in the Virtual_Mix_Rack plug-in.
Please make sure, the plug-in is up to date. If this is the case, get in touch with the plug-ins developer, please.
Thanks Martin. However, as I’ve mentioned, I have a few of these crashes, with different plugins mentioned at the time of the crash. These are subscriptions and all up to date. I feel it’s a memory issue. If I disable a few big FX tracks randomly, the distortion goes away.
Hi,
Have you tried to increase the Buffer Size, please?
