assign a MIDI controller to the Master Fader

hello Everyone,
I’m using Cubase 4.5.2 and I have been trying to assign a MIDI controller to the Master Fader, but not having any luck with this so far. Is this even possible?

The Quickcontrols panel doesn’t appear when the Master Fader track is selected, therefore I presume it’s not an option. Does anyone have a workaround for this?

any help or suggestions are much appreciated!
