Assign alt as temporary cut tool when in arrow selection tool

How can I Assign alt / opt key as temporary cut tool when in arrow selection tool ?

So when I release the alt key they tool automatically reverts back to arrow selection tool ?

Hi,

What you are describing is the default Cubase behaviour. If you overwrote it, you can get it back in the Preferences > Editing > Tool Modifier > Select Tool > Split Event. Set the Alt/Opt here.

Hi Martin,

Is it possible to temporarily disable the grid for the “temporary” cut tool without turning off the snap feature?

As far as I know, it used to be possible, but now I can’t get it to work.

Pressing the Command key while resizing an event bypasses the grid.

thanks but I want the scissor cut tool to only be active while I’m holding down the alt / opt key. as soon as I release the alt / opt key the tool then should switch automatically back to default ( object selection ) tool

Is this the behavior you’re referring to?

But this is exactly how it works, on my end, with what I think are the default settings of the Select Tool Modifiers :

(Windows 10 22H2 / Cubase Pro 15.0.10)

Yes, so the cut tool only is active while the key is held ?

Wow I can’t believe for 20 years of using Cubase I didn’t know about it

ok, I’ll go test it as soon as I recover from my stomach bug flu

Thank you dear friends , you are amazing !

Hi,

Yes, the modifiers apply only at the moment, when you hold it. If you want to switch to another tool (just a trigger when hitting the key), use the tool’s Key Command.
