assigning consecutive inputs

I want to create a project with, say 24 inputs. I’ve assigned 24 ins in the VST connections, how do I create 24 tracks with consecutive inputs (without having to reassign every input)?

As explained in the manual - by holding “shift” and selecting the first desired input for the first selected track.
