Assigning Split Zones to MIDI Keyboard on Cubase

There are MIDI keyboards which you can assign for example a bass guitar to lower registers and a saxophone to higher registers. (Split Zone Function)

and there are MIDI keyboards which haven’t this function.

Can I make these assignments on Cubase?

Do I need that function as built-in?

Use the Project Logical Editor. Have it change the MIDI channel on incoming notes that are below your split point to something different than what your keyboard is transmitting. Then set your 2 VSTi’s to respond to one channel or the other.
