Back in the early and insanely confusing days of ATMOS mixing, one particularly vexing problem was getting the LFE to send signal to the renderer. Leo Brody made a great video on how to get it to work.
For the longest time, I followed that setup until I made a 2 step discovery. 1) I didn’t have to waste any time building an LFE channel. I could just route it directly to the Bed’s LFE Child bus. But 2 was a more fascinating discovery and I don’t know if anybody else knew this. When you activate the child bus of the 7.1.2 Bed, the LFE knob of the panner works!! This means no more running your signal through an Aux Send to get the LFE to go to the renderer. NOW IT JUST WORKS LIKE YOU’D EXPECT.
You open the pan window, go to the LFE knob and if you have the child busses activated on your 7.1.2 bed, the LFE knob will send signal directly to the renderer.
Am I the only one who didn’t know about this? Well, just in case there’s anyone else who didn’t know about this, now you know about this much simpler, less convoluted setup.
