ATMOS Workf Flow Question

Can any of you doing ATMOS mixes explain to me why Object tracks don’t show any LED activity as opposed to tracks that might’ve been routed to the bed which act like normal surround tracks and supply feedback?

My template routes only the FX to the Bed. All of my other tracks are routed to a 7.1.4 group that I’ve designated as a single object. This allows me to work in traditional surround mode, including normal track feedback and processing as well as applying master bus processing BEFORE going to the renderer. It also allows me to economize with the limited number of objects available. For the most part, this work flow is great. However, I keep running into very odd and inconsistant behaviour from some tracks, especially as regards to panning.

Ex: I have 4 ambient synths panned to front L/R and back L/R, one each. The front synths play back as expected. But there’s always some issue with one or both of the rear monitors. ALL of these tracks are routed to that 7.1.4 subgroup. Yet, for some inexplicable reason the left rear synth would not sound unless I turned it into an object. What is that about? Why did he other 3 play through the group, like Bed tracks, but just this one needed to become it’s own object?

Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Not sure I follow the latter half of your post, but for the issue I quoted from you above, you need to set the meter for the tracks to post-fader. (right-click on track)
